Alum & Ash

Block printing yards with cloth drying in the sun. Marigold garlands, sandalwood, chai boiling at the roadside in a clay cup. The most colour-saturated of the seven collections.

The soap is bright and sharp — cardamom, lime and black pepper — holding the sandalwood back for the candle, which goes rich, earthy and floral with jasmine and vetiver. The diffuser leans into heady white florals: jasmine, tuberose, cedar.

The pattern is the buti: a small stylised flower scattered in a regular repeat, printed with hand-carved wooden blocks — regular in rhythm, never identical in impression, and the most open of our patterns. The printing block itself is the collection's bought-in object: the tool and the pattern are the same thing. Joins after the launch three.
